1 - Language School Overview :
Algonquin College Language Institute is located on a large community college campus in Ottawa, Canada’s National City! With 14,000 full-time Canadian students in attendance, students of The Language Institute have the opportunity to participate in the day to day activities of a regular campus.
The Language Institute offers full-time English as a Second Language instruction and TOEFL preparation for international students. Students in the Language Institute have access to modern multimedia labs where they can access many resources to help them with their language studies.
The Multicultural Buddy Network Club is designed to help students make new friends from around the world while also introducing them to Canadian culture. Students enjoy full use of all campus facilities such as: 24/7 Computer Access Labs, Resource Centre and library, Fitness Centre and gymnasium, cafeterias and many on-campus student clubs.
The English as a Second Language program offers language training in an academic environment. Our faculty are all degree holders with professional TESL certification. The program takes students through various levels of instruction from beginner to advanced offering them courses in speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading, writing and grammar. These skills are further enhanced with the introduction of some general education credits delivered in the higher levels of the program which can be transferred into academic studies at the college. Finally, students who are planning to pursue higher academic studies can register in the TOEFL preparation classes offered at the Language Institute. Algonquin College will issue conditional admission to students who are interested in academic studies at the college upon completion of their language program.
