Located in the safe and attractive seaside resort of Aberystwyth, the University of Wales offers a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere for study, well away from crowds of language learners. The Language and Learning Centre aims to provide a high quality, student centred, language learning experience. The staff are professionally qualified and experienced teachers of English as a Foreign language and possess academic degrees in a variety of subjects. Courses include: university preparation programmes, general English courses and professional development courses for English language teachers. All students have free 24 hour access to the computer workstations, university libraries and the multi-media Language Laboratory.

Located on the west coast of Wales, Aberystwyth is a beautiful seaside resort with a population of around 14,000 people. The university, with a student body of about 7000, plays a major role in the town and adds to the “cosmopolitan” feel as students come to study in Aberystwyth from all over the world. When travelling to Aberystwyth, students get a feel for the beauty that Wales has to offer as the journey takes them through some of the most stunning scenery in the United Kingdom. Aberystwyth is often described as the town “where the mountains meet the sea” and it is the view of Cardigan Bay that makes Aberystwyth so special. The University, founded in 1872, is proud of its status as the oldest university in Wales and the “Old College” on the seafront is a prominent feature of the town. It is easy to get around by public transport, there is even a “free bus” for students during the academic year – however nowhere is very far from the university and many students choose to walk.
