1 - Language School Overview :
Emphasis at Nab Cottage is on communication - listening and speaking. It is a holistic, experiential, expressive approach to learning. Our teachers draw on experience in group dynamics, peer learning, neurolinguistic programming, suggestopedia and personal development work.
Students and teachers live together in the grounds of the school. Classes run for 20 hours a week (average class size 4-5, maximum 8). After class there are programmes for another 15 hours a week designed to activate your English. These can include pronunciation and vocabulary workshops, guided walks, evening talks, cooking, a yoga class, relaxation session, making a video, writing a weekly newspaper, gardening, pledge auctions, treasure hunts and listening trails…
Finally we include in our social programme: parties, barbecues, canoeing, cycling, cultural visits, volleyball, trips to the pub, cinema and theatre.
And every week each student has an individual tutorial when they can work on a learning plan, be guided in self-study and share ideas with the teachers.

You live in an extensive 450 year old cottage in the grounds of the school. You can look out from your bedroom window on to a beautiful lake. You can walk in any direction from the front door and the landscape is magnificent. You live at Nab Cottage - once owned by one of England's most famous Romantic authors. You live in the centre of the Lake District National Park - often described as the most beautiful corner of England. You are in the centre of a busy tourist destination with all the facilities you would expect; cinemas, theatres, music, clubs, restaurants, sports centres and shops. You are less than 2 hours from Manchester Airport.
