The Cheltenham School of English was established in 1976. Over 7,000 students from over 90 different countries have attended the school, and from the very beginning our aim has always been to provide a friendly, safe and welcoming atmosphere for all our students.
Standard and Intensive English Language courses are offered throughout the year with qualified native-speaking English teachers. Class sizes are particularly small and focused. All levels can be taught and a variety of examinations are available.
Special summer school courses offer an ‘all inclusive’ option to students, whilst tailor-made courses can be arranged for groups. The school is recognised and accredited by EnglishUK and The British Council.

The Cheltenham School of English is located in the centre of Cheltenham, one of the most affluent and attractive towns in England. The town has a population of over 100,000 and boasts shopping, leisure and entertainment centres and facilities to rival many bigger cities, yet it is an easy town to become familiar with and travel around. The town has an increasing student population from its university and has a well-earned reputation for its safety and for the friendliness of the locals.
Cheltenham has a strong cultural heritage with a range of international festivals year-round, from music and literature to the world-famous horse racing festival. Impressive architecture and colourful parks add to the elegance of the town.
Cheltenham is just 90 minutes away by car from London, with regular direct trains and buses available, and within an hour of cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford and Bath. The town is also a centre for the Cotswold Hills with their spectacular countryside and picturesque villages. Cheltenham provides an ideal setting for our students both in terms of the town itself and in terms of the town’s central location as a base for touring the surrounding areas.
