Since the School was established in 1968, we have been members of English UK (previously ARELS) and accredited with the mark of quality from the British Council. We are also members of the newly established Business English UK dedicated to providing high quality teaching to professionals. Cheswold Hall is surrounded by traditional English gardens, making it a pleasure to come to School. During summer, the garden is enjoyed by everyone for social gatherings. Our school is just ten minutes walk from the centre of Scarborough where you will find a full range of services including Banks, post offices, café bars and designer stores. Our maximum class size is 14 and all Course materials are provided. The teachers use a range of resources to make lessons as useful and realistic as possible for students. Life outside the classroom plays a major part of English learning with us. Our resources for students include comfortable classrooms, a modern multi media self–access learning centre with listening facilities, computers with a range of the latest educational software, a library of books for loan by students and a television/video/DVD lounge. Our coffee/social area, which also houses a free internet facility, provides a place to relax during breaks.

Located at the premier English East Coast seaside resort of Scarborough the School is easy to reach and central to a range of major English tourist attractions, including London, York, Manchester and Edinburgh. The School is just 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the world-famous Stephen Joseph Theatre and 20 minutes from the South Bay Beach with its wonderful entertainment for all the family. As well as an excellent range of shops and restaurants Scarborough boasts a 12th century castle with spectacular coastal views, a Sea Life Centre and Marine Sanctuary plus museums and an art gallery. A range of activities are available such as swimming pools, a water park, fishing, boating, tenpin bowling, mini golf, leisure and sports centres, parks, ghost tours and more. Scarborough also plays host to 3 superb golf courses. Bordering the town are the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors containing traditional English villages. Long walks can be enjoyed here as well as along the coastal path – the Cleveland Way. Other places to visit from Scarborough include Whitby, York, The Yorkshire Dales. A number of historic buildings are also within easy reach - Castle Howard, Raby Castle and High Force Waterfall, Burton Agnes Hall and Sledmere House.
