1 - Language School Overview :
Since 1975, the Career English Language Center for International Students (CELCIS) has prepared people to use English effectively in their university study and careers. We offer 20 hours per week of class and two hours of conversation practice at four proficiency levels from Elementary to Advanced. The classes are Speaking/Listening, Grammar/Communication, and Reading/Writing. In addition, there is a full range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to learn about the culture of the United States. The CELCIS staff consists of experienced, professional English as a second language teachers who are eager to help students reach their goals. CELCIS is accredited by CEA and is a member of both UCIEP and AAIEP. The university offers sport, social, and cultural activities as well as computer labs, libraries, and recreational facilities.

Located on the campus of Western Michigan University in the small, friendly city of Kalamazoo, CELCIS is the perfect place to learn and practice English. Kalamazoo is located 3 hours by car from both Chicago and Detroit, and it is close to many year-round recreation areas. Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes, is only 45 minutes away. CELCIS students can ride the
city buses for free with their student card, and both the airport and train station are close to campus.
