Program for Intensive English (PIE): The PIE at Clackamas is a model in the state of Oregon. Small classes, innovative curriculum and low cost are all features of the PIE program. Instructors hold graduate degrees and are leaders in a variety of professional activities.
Students receive individual attention to make sure they receive all the support they need in their core classes of reading & writing, conversation, and grammar. Elective classes include topics such as American idioms, pronunciation, computer lab, TOEFL and TOEIC preparation, and intercultural communication.
Instructors use modern teaching methods that promote student interaction. New classes are regularly introduced in response to changing student populations. State-of-the-art computer labs enhance instruction.
To be accepted into the PIE program, international students need a minimum TOEFL score of 420 (paper test) or 110 (computer test), or a liaison in the area. Students who complete the PIE program may be admitted into the College without retaking the TOEFL. The American Association of International English Programs (AAIEP) certifies PIE.
