Pittsburg State University is a four-year comprehensive, public university with a rich tradition of excellence offering more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs recognized worldwide. Pittsburg State University is one of six institutions of higher learning in the Kansas Regents System. Programs are offered within the four colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Technology. Pittsburg State University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education; National Association of Schools of Music; International Association for Management Education (AACSB); National League for Nursing; Council on Social Work Education; Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; and the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. With a student population of about 6,700 students, Pittsburg State University is considered a medium-sized university. Five sessions of intensive English classes from beginning through advanced level are offered per year. Students who complete the highest level may not be required to present a TOEFL score to satisfy language requirements for admission and may be eligible to begin undergraduate courses while enrolled.

Pittsburg State University is located in Pittsburg, Kansas, which is a friendly community of approximately 20,000 located in the southeast corner of Kansas. The campus is a two to three hour drive from major airports in Kansas City, Missouri and Tulsa, Oklahoma. A regional airport is located just 30 minutes away in Joplin, Missouri. The region has a landscape of rolling prairie, filled with beautiful trees that change color with each season.
