The Sonoma State American Language Institute (SSALI), located in scenic Northern California on the campus of Sonoma State University, is the ideal place for those desiring stimulating classes taught in a safe, comfortable environment. Since 1979, SSALI has been providing intensive instruction to students, professionals and others who need English to meet academic, job-related and social needs.
SSALI's team of talented and experienced instructors uses a variety of interactive and task-based strategies to engage and challenge students at every level of proficiency. Social and cultural activities, the Conversation Partner Program, and community volunteer involvement assure ample opportunities for SSALI students to experience American culture and to use English outside the classroom.
The program offers Conditional Admission as well as Concurrent enrollment to qualified students. The TOEFL requirement for admission to Sonoma State University is waived for students who successfully complete the advanced level of SSALI. Counseling for placement into university and college is provided.

SSALI students attend classes on the 200 acre campus of Sonoma State University, a fully accredited public institution within the California State University system. The university is located in the friendly, safe town of Rohnert Park, which boasts a comfortable combination of city and country living. The exciting city of San Francisco is about an hour to the south. World-famous wineries, a spectacular coastline, impressive redwood forests and several golf courses are only minutes away, offering year-round recreational opportunities.
