1 - Language School Overview :
RUNAWASI is a Quechua word meaning “house of the people”; it refers to our school as a meeting place. The school offers Spanish lessons at all levels. In addition to learning Spanish you will achieve a better awareness of reality in Bolivia and Latin America. Advanced students may specialize on Bolivian and Latinamerican literature or a subject of their choice. The school also offers Quechua and AyThe school is located in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, 4.5 km from the center of Cochabamba. Juan XXIII was founded by a miners’ cooperative in the mining center Catavi about 30 years ago.
Former mine workers, retired workmen and low income families live here. Necessity obliged (and still obliges) the residents to help themselves. That is how they have electricity and water 24 hours a day. They also built a primary school and a multi-purpose community house “Casa Comunal”. It has a big hall for concerts, parties, wakes and other functions, a library and a health center.
By living with a native Spanish and/or Quechua speaking family in the Juan XXIII neighborhood and spending time at a nearby Quechua peasant community, you will become better acquainted with our culture and languages.

2 - Location :
The Escuela Runawasi is located in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, 10-15 minutes by bus from the center of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Villa Juan XXIII was founded by a miner´s cooperative in the mining center Catavi about 30 years ago.
