The Instituto Intercultural del Caribe (IIC) is the Spanish Department of the German-Dominican Language and Culture Institute EDASE. Founded in 1994, it has become one of the major institutions in the Dominican Republic offering Spanish as a foreign language.
IIC is an intercultural institute teaching Spanish to foreigners and in the same building English and German to Dominicans through the company's English/German section, the CASA GOETHE. One of the institute’s aims is to bring together foreign and Dominican students for an intercultural exchange and for practicing newly-acquired language skills.
With a school in the capital Santo Domingo and one in Sosua at the north coast of the island, IIC offers its students the great possibility to study at two different places and discover this beautiful island in its splendid diversity.
2 - Location :
With its beautiful beaches, restaurants, discos and sports facilities, Sosua is perfect for those students who wish to combine studying Spanish with numerous leisure activities. Surfer's paradise Cabarete, one of the best wind and kite surfing spots in the world, is just some minutes away.
IIC-Sosua is located in the old and more serene part of Sosua called "El Batey". The school building, sheltered by impressive old trees and lush vegetation, offers the ideal ambiance for concentrated learning in a tropical surrounding.
The institute is within a stone's throw of the city center and 5 minutes walk away from the main beach. Nevertheless, the ambiance is so tranquil that classes often take place on one of the four shadowed and airy terraces.
The classrooms are equipped with audio visual teaching media. Foreign and Dominican students meet at the small cafeteria. - Leisure Activities: Scuba Diving, Wind and Kite Surfing, Sailing, River-rafting, Mountain-biking, Motor-biking, Horse-riding, Tennis, Hiking, Golf.
