We believe that learning a language involves not only studying its grammar, but also experiencing its culture and appreciating its people. ABADAT is a perfectly restored 16th century renaissance palace, situated in the heart of the historic centre of Úbeda. It has 6 well-equipped classrooms with wheelchair access. Apart from teaching Spanish and culture, we want our students to feel at home among us. As well as the language and culture classes for six different levels (from beginners to proficiency), ABADAT offers a free immersion programme for everybody, with different activities which enable the students to come into contact with Spanish life and culture, like talks and conferences about Spanish and Latin American cinema, history, cooking, craftwork, etc., and also visits to Úbeda´s monuments, accompanied by a specialist teacher. The programme consists of five 60-minute lessons spread out throughout the course. On the first Saturday of each course, the school organises excursions to local historic monuments, archaeological sites, and nature reserves, or even to nearby attractive cities such as Granada, Córdoba, Jaén, Toledo, etc. In order to mix with Spaniards, the secretary's office can help you arrange free Spanish language exchanges or you can attend the art exhibitions organised by the school or the other Cultural activities open to the public such as concerts or theatre plays. ABADAT also offers private lessons and courses in order to prepare for the DELE, about history, literature, and teacher training courses.

The school is a magnificent 16th century restored Renaissance Palace located in the centre of Historic Úbeda. From inside the palace one can observe the historical evolution of the city: the Arab foundation, with improvements made during the Gothic era but it is however during the Renaissance that the building acquired its overall form. One leaves the central courtyard and walks out the front door to find a beautiful city plaza bordered by the school's palace, a Gothic-Mudejar convent and another lovely Renaissance Palace. Úbeda is a UNESCO World Heritage site where students and visitors can experience an authentic trip back in time.
