CSN
As a Swedish citizen that attends a long-term language course you have the possibilty to apply for financial study assistance at the National Board of Student Aid (CSN – Centrala Studiestöds Nämnden) if you meet the following requirements:

the language school is approved by the Swedish educational authorities (to find out which of our schools offer suitable courses go to 'All schools'.)

the language course has a minimum duration of 13 weeks and a maximum duration of 45 weeks

the language course consists of at least 20 hours/week

the language course finishes with a test or exam
-
you are present in at least 80% of the classes
-
you learn a European language in Europe |
The CSN scholarship compounds two components – a student grant and a student loan. The grant is a fixed amount of SEK 593 per week (in 2004). The student loan varies depending on the country in which the language course takes place – in general about SEK 1,500 a week. Additionally you can apply for a tuition fee loan and assistance with your travel expenses to the destination.
